HOW WE DISTRIBUTE YOUR QURBANI AND AKIKA MEAT
As Zimbabwe Muslim Youth Organisation we target vulnerable Muslims within the breadth and width of Zimbabwe who are mostly located in the remote rural areas of Zimbabwe. Our annual meat distribution target stand at plus 5000 beneficiaries.
Vulnerable people are the weakest in communities, they face myriad of risk challenges in all facets of life. Bread and butter issues forms the initial stage of the immeasurable socio-economic challenges they face. Through the generous unwavering support we receive from our development partners, we the Zimbabwe Muslim Youth Organisation we distribute meat towards the vulnerable Muslims residing in the most vulnerable areas in Zimbabwe.
Meat plays an important role in our bodies as a source of proteins. Thus our monthly animal sacrifice is spread across mainly 3 types of animals; cows, goats and sheep.
WHAT IS QURBANI?
Qurban refers to every good and pious act through which one intends to gain nearness to Allah. In general usage among Muslims this word is mostly used for the sacrifice of an animal during the days of Eid Al-Adha. the practice of slaughtering an animal with the intention of gaining nearness to Allah was first ushered in the time of Adam (may Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his two sons Haabeeel and Qaabeel were the first to offer a sacrifice. (Quran 5 vs 27). In addition, though Qurban had been ordained as an ibadah (act of worship) from the time of Adam (may Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) a vital or special importance was attached to it after the incident which took place with Ibrahim (may Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Thereafter, with the advent of prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) Qurban was given more significance and it was recommended upon every Muslim that can afford it as evidenced by the Quran (Al-Hajj vs 34) and the hadith recorded in Ahmad, Ibn Maajah narrated by Zaid bin Arrqam.
The Zimbabwe Muslim Youth Organisation has always successfully managed to appeal to our international and local stakeholders and partners for Qurban distribution to the vulnerable Muslim community in the days of Qurban, by providing nutrients and Qurban meals. It is through your generosity and assistance that we continue to extent our hand in serving lives and improving household livelihoods which are under constant threat from natural disasters, poverty and high unemployment. In 2023/1444 through your support, we have managed to provide Qurban meat packets to over 3800 families in farms and rural areas across Zimbabwe.
